Hi, this is the about me page, and it's all about the person
I spend most of my time with... me.
I love listening to music, my daily escape
and only true addiction. I am into all sorts of music but
have no idea what you'd call the different genre's that
I like.
Film and Cinema, an important topic for
me as watching film is one of my favourite past times. I
often go through periods of watching a film at the cinema
at least once a week, and I have a wide and varied DVD and
video collection at home. I am currently acquiring many
of my favourite films on DVD, many of which are regarded
as cinematic 'classics'.
In terms of 'the box' I'm afraid to say
that most of what I watch, with the exception of the BBC
and Channel 4 News, comes under the broad category of 'cult'.
There is a lot of science fiction programming, fantasy,
and comedy, I'm a big fan of some American sit coms and
will watch them avidly. I love some of the better British
comedies, French & Saunders, Red Dwarf, Ab Fab, Coupling,
Vicar of Dib, Murder Most horrid,Black Adder, Monty Pyton,
League Of Gentlemen, etc. I absolutely love "Have I
got News for you," and "Bremnar, Bird and Fortune,"
if only ITV would bring back Spitting Image then every terrestrial
channel would have supremely good political satire, 2DTV
just doesn't do it for me. I have a disturbing taste in
some kids programming, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Tom &
Jerry, I am Weasel and Wild Thornberries for example, but
why can't I be a kid still when it's appropriate? I'm fond
of some older programs like I Dream Of Jeannie and Bewitched;
a little camp I know. In terms of serious television I do
watch a number of different documentaries, normally historical
or wildlife based, but advances in medicine (particularly
psychological), science or issues surrounding foreign affairs
also interest me greatly. It does sound like I watch far
to much TV, but in fact, if you bear in mind that few of
the mentioned series are on at the same time of year it
works out that I only watch a few hours a week.
Clothes? I like to wear what I like, and
generally what I like is what other people like. I'm not
a magazine fashion victim, but I am a victim, I'll buy what
I think looks nice on the racks in shops, and generally
the shops I go to are the shops which sell popular clothing.
I'm not a huge fan of the "alternative" styles,
it suits some people, but it certainly does not suit myself.
My favourite clothes shops at the moment have to be GAP
and River Island. I used to shop a lot in Top man and H&M,
occasionally Next, and I still pop in on occasion but the
way the brands have changed is not to my chase. if I had
enough money I would shop in Envy and French Connection
more as well.
I'm rarely asked about art, and that's probably
a good thing, I'm not a great appreciator of Art. My favourite
Artist is H.R. Geiger, most famously Geiger designed the
alien costumes and sets for the film Alien and Species.
Despite my love of the Alien movies my favourite Geiger
work is called Ly, one day I would love to own a full size
copy but if you check out the website you'll see it costs
a fortune. Other than Geiger I love Farside by Lawson and
the political cartoons of David Low. If anyone has taken
time to read this and knows David Low's work, could you
help me? I'm trying to track down an image, even if it's
just a .gif or .jpg, of a picture he drew, of Hitler drawn
as a very small donkey. It's my favourite piece and I've
only ever seen it once.
I've realised that my taste in written fiction
is somewhat science fiction based, like my film and TV taste,
it has dawned on me; I'm a geek! My favourite series of
books are the Rama series by Arthur C. Clark. I have read
some other Clark books, Cradle being one of his most famous,
and all that I've read I have loved. J.R.R. Tolkien I think
everyone has read, and Lord Of The Rings is indeed one of
the best books I have ever read. I also like Michael Crighton's
books, Jurassic Park, The Lost World and Congo may be familiar
to you? If you've seen the films then read the books, you'll
find that Crighton's novels are better than the film adaptations.
I also own many Alien's spin off books, all very good, but
none as good as Alien or Aliens the film. Non-fiction is
my main reading area, due to having to work hard for exams.
The Cold War is an era that has taken my interest and I
have read a few books on it.

I have three pets
living with me at home. They are absolutely great,
very noisy, smelly and hairy, but all three are stars.
Harry possibly gets the most attention simply because
he's like a big kid, he gets jealous when others are
getting fussed. Percy has always been a loner, and
despite being called Percy she is in fact female,
she is somewhat aggressive at times and is only fussed
when she wants fussing. Jasper is the oddest of the
three, he is of a nervous disposition, but is simply
great ever so friendly and loves attention. He has
the loudest meow you've ever heard and the most curious
of jaw overhangs, many say he looks aggressive, I
don't see it, with his teeth sticking out and tongue
in the middle he just looks daft.
